Welcome to
Riverbend Farm
Our Story
Riverbend farm is a second generation boutique family olive estate, established by Trevor and Kathleen Brodrick in 1999, with the first olives pressed in 2005.
The Olive Mill is conveniently positioned in the middle of the groves, ready to press the olives within 24 hours of hand picking at optimal ripeness. Since 2014, the farm has been further developed by their daughter, Allison and her husband, Francis Brand. They are committed to continue the legacy of producing quality olive oil and olive products. They are also passionate about accommodating smaller farms in the “Italian Co-Operative tradition” of producing oil for others. The farm also offers exceptionally well appointed self catering cottages on the banks of the Breede river and at the base of the majestic Rooiberg mountain

Sustainable Olive Farming
At Riverbend Farm we strive to operate as efficiently as possible with minimal waste whilst living harmoniously with the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Annual tree cuttings are chipped and spread in the olive groves to assist with water retention, the maintenance of beneficial soil organisms and to improve soil health. Watering schedules are monitored and adjusted regularly in an effort to reduce consumption to only what is necessary and to prevent the leaching of essential soil nutrients. Renewable energy solutions have been installed in our guest accommodation and factory and pockets of natural vegetation have been retained amongst the groves to encourage natural wild life and vegetational growth.
The consistent removal of alien vegetation and the introduction of Indigenous trees ensures local bird and insect population growth. Through a practice of no-till farming, we aim to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions and minimise soil erosion. We conduct regular training of our close knit team of staff on best practice in managing the olive groves alongside the flora and fauna that surround them, thus ensuring sustainability for generations to come.
